Pick the right file first

There are two Mac downloads, one for each kind of Mac chip. The wrong one will not start at all. It does not warn you and it does not run slowly — it simply fails to open.

Check which chip you have before you download. It takes ten seconds.

Which Mac do you have

Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner, then About This Mac.

What it says	Your download
Apple M1, M2, M3, M4 or similar	Apple Silicon
Intel Core i5, i7, i9 or Xeon	Intel

Every Mac sold since late 2020 is Apple Silicon. If yours is older than that, it is almost certainly Intel.

Install

1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
2. Drag RungBot into your Applications folder.
3. Eject the disk image and open RungBot from Applications.

The first launch takes a little longer than later ones, while macOS checks the app.

Where your settings are kept

~/Library/Application Support/RungBot.App/

In Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G and paste that path.

If macOS will not open it

“RungBot is damaged and can’t be opened.” In almost every case this means the wrong build for your chip, or a download that did not finish. Check the table above, then download again.

“RungBot can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.” You have an old or incomplete download. Get the file again from the links above rather than working around the warning — macOS is telling you the app is not the one we signed.

Updates

RungBot checks once at startup, when the connect window opens, and offers the update if there is one. It never updates in the background while you are trading.
